The Job:

The Digital Platform at Mind Gym is only 6 months old. We have hired our first cohort of engineers and are building a greenfield platform that will transform the business. As our Head of Data you will be responsible for an equal mix of leadership and technical contribution. We ingest data to our Snowflake platform with a mixture of singer, dbt and native integrations. For infrastructure we use AWS and Serverless techniques alongside a modern DevOps stack.
A typical day might include:

  • Enablement of our data engineers and BI analysts by spotting opportunities to help them accelerate
  • Acquiring world class talent to grow our data science capability
  • Line management and mentoring of the data team
  • Facilitation of architectural discussions for our data platform
  • Guiding decisions on the best techniques to be applied to varying datasets and scenarios
  • Establishing a framework of idea to experimentation and production workload
  • Pairing and hands-on work that makes the most of your experience but doesn’t block the critical path


About You:


  • A background as an individual contributor for at least 5 years
  • Leading and managing people for at least 3 years
  • You have built and retained excellent teams
  • Proven track record of transforming organisations to data driven decision making
  • Proven track record of building data driven consumer products
  • An expert in at least two of these areas and competent in the rest [collection, ELT / ETL, cleansing, analytics, features, aggregation, machine learning and deep learning]
  • Experience of working iteratively from idea to production solution
  • Critical thinking on when to build vs buy
