Parent Gym is the philanthropic arm of Mind Gym, an award-winning Learning & Development company. Mind Gym uses psychology to change the way people think, feel and behave at work. Parent Gym uses these same principles to improve the lives of primary school aged children, by supporting parents.
Changing the quality of parenting is reported to have more impact on exam results, criminal behaviour and social mobility than any other single factor. Our programmes are proven to make a lasting improvement to participants’ parenting skills and to the well-being of their children.
Our workshops are run by qualified, Parent Gym coaches, covering key issues like communication, discipline and boundaries, as well as building warm relationships within a harmonious family.
Parent Gym has already run over 400 programmes across London, Brighton, Leeds and Bradford since beginning in 2010 – helping more than 5000 parents and over 6000 children, with ambitions to reach even more families in the year ahead.

The Job:

We care about our coaches. This is why we are looking for someone to play a crucial role in coordinating the administration of the Parent Gym coach journey, for both volunteers and “in-house” coaches.
You will be the coaches first contact with Parent Gym and support them from starting their first Parent Gym programme to become a fully trained coach.
You will be working closely with the team to ensure the best possible experience with Parent Gym.

This will include:

Volunteer Recruitment Outreach

  • Managing all incoming enquires from new potential volunteers and “in-house” coaches
  • Writing external coach recruitment communications in the Parent Gym Tone of Voice
  • Coordinating with the Programme Associate to reach out through current coach networks in order to get more potential candidates
  • Conducting DBS checks for new volunteers where appropriate and maintain current records to ensure existing volunteer checks are up to date in line with our safeguarding policy

Volunteer Training Support

  • Scheduling and conducting screen calls with new potential coaches to assess suitability for the role
  • Organising and managing logistics for introductory sessions (called Try Outs) for groups of new potential volunteers and training programmes
  • Coordinating all elements of event management, such as venue booking, logistics, organising catering, attendee confirmations and communications
  • Packing and distributing training materials to coaches
  • Organising inductions sessions for newly qualified volunteer and “in-house” coaches

About You:

  • A studied learner with academic credentials including a university degree (2:1 desirable)
  • A team player, who can work collaboratively in a team environment to make things happen, whatever the obstacle
  • Someone who is passionate about delivering social change on the ground
  • A “people person”, able to develop relationships with people from a wide range of backgrounds
  • Someone with an eye for detail and organisation
  • A persuasive communicator, both verbally and in writing – getting people to do more, sooner, and better than they had planned
  • A multi-tasker, happy to juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Some Recruiting and Events Management experience would be a plus
